I know it's possible to customize the defect plugin to readout custom data from our defect logging software, but I had a question about the way TestRails looks up defect information.

Can I use information gathered by the defect plugin ( Any, but ours is OnTime ) in a UI Script or any sort of other instance? What I'm looking to do is check the defect readout for it's status "Open or Closed" and create a nice little UI Script printout that shows the user a table with the Open Defects only.  If the defect is closed I'd simply ignore it.

I'm sure it's possible if I can access whatever method is pulling that defect data.

I have added a new overall Status for the Add Test Result window of "Incomplete", which is coloured a light red.  I have made this the default overall status, but the colour band at the top of the Add Test Result window remains green (the previous default of "Passed" colour) when first opening the window. 

Changing the status to one of the other choices and then back to "Incomplete" forces the colour change, but I'm looking to have the default colour aligned when first opening the Add Test Result window.  Any suggestions on how to achieve this?

Hello, I'm working on a project to integrate some automated test results into TestRail using the API, I have a couple questions.

1) Is there a way to get a list of every test in a run (all I really need is ID and type)

2) How do I figure out the ID of a test case inside a run? I have a test run(202) with an instance of a test case with ID(T6639), but this does not work:
get_results_for_case/202/6639
I assume that I have to pass it the original C#### ID from my test suite. but is there a quick way to figure that out just by looking at the run in the UI.?

• One tester created a test case within a specified test suite.

• A second tester created a copy and put the copy into a different test suite.

• These are true duplicates; there is no difference between them, in the test case itself.

I want to merge these test cases, and retain the history and the test results of both.  Something like:

• Click Merge.

• Select a test suite, then select one test case, similar to adding test suites to a plan.

• Select which test case will be primary.

• Merge!

History would then list the original test case ID next to actions, and Test Results would show the original test case ID before the "in [Test Suite Name]" line.

Is this a possible enhancement?  Or is this possible now?

The plan (850) exists and as far as I can tell, the 'runs' table looks ok in the database (with config column present).

Any ideas why this is occurring?

Is there a way to have the external issue tracker (Jira in our case) ids (as links to the external issue) as column in the test result reports? The current way of going to the test detail and from there wait for the pop-up to appear is quite uncomfortable.

Even better of course would be if we could also see the issue status directly on the report page (or at least directly on the detail view).

Something very strange has happened. One of my testers has noticed that no checkboxes are currently being displayed in his version of Firefox. They show correctly in IE and Chrome.

Instead he just sees dots.

He's cleared his history and restarted his PC.

What's even stranger is that the checkboxes are shown in our sandbox version of TestRail, in Firefox!

We haven't yet upgrade our live environment to version 3.

Also, as you can see from the pie chart in the second screenshot, something seems a bit weird because it's not a circle. Weird.

Have you ever seen anything like this before? Any tips?

Recently a few of my test cases which were previously formatted perfectly have become corrupted in some way.

They are no longer constricted by the borders of the page, and their font seems to have shifted to something along the lines of Courier.   It wouldn't be a problem if they didn't leave their spacing, but random spacing before every step and expected has destroyed visibility on some test cases. 

Attached is an example of what one of the cases looked like vs. how it looks now.  There are no UI Scripts running on these pages, nothing changed with the formatting at all.
Each form entry on the test case page is now preceded by 6-10 whitespace marks. Some of the test cases go off the page by ridiculously large amounts of space. Deleting these spaces before each step/expected returns the formatting back to normal.

Is there a specific reason that this happened? Is this related to upgrading to testrails 3.0?  Is there a way to fix all of them without going into every individual case and removing the leading spaces?

I tried exporting and importing the cases just as a test, and it yielded no results.

is there any possibility to get zip report result without using email?

We need to do html page with list of weekly reports results (for users without testrail access)
because they don't want to get emails every week (it's not prctical) but can see that list of results somewhere.

Can I resolve that problem somehow with available TestRail features (ui script or api or custom reports) ? Or do I have to create special email accout to get result via email and then link it to page?

Access a test suite
Multiple test sections created under the test suite
Click on "is_automatable" heading/link at top of column to sort test cases by that attribute

All tests now display in one section. 
Click on "Show all sections and cases" button at top of page but still only a single section is displayed.

The only way I could find to get the multiple test sections to display for this or any other suite again is to create a test case, delete the test case and then click the link for the section in which the test case was created.

Once you navigate away from the suite, the multi-section view is once again lost.

Tested on a coworkers machine.  He had no problem with the "show all sections" button until he sorted on the column link too.  Now he has the same problem.

Tested with Firefox 22, 23 and IE 9 and saw same results.

Is this a known issue?

I'm trying to migrate our scripts from miniapi to new v2 API.
I've found 2 problems so far.

1)
In miniapi we use inactive user to authorization (we got this suggestion from your support)

Now I can only access v2 API with real user and real authorization.
But this is not accepted solution.

How should we access v2 API without use real user? (we cannot create domain user for automatic tests)

2)
I got 'HTTP Error 400: Bad Request' always when I'm trying to send POST.
I use python scripts which work well for miniapi e.g.:

It would be useful to be able to edit a test case from Test Runs & Results because as I am going through my test run I am finding some edits that need to be made.

Is this possible?  I have not yet found a way to edit while in Test Runs, I have to go back to Test Suites and Cases, find the offending test case and then edit it there and then go back to my test run.
